WICKLOW ROVERS AFC
CLUB NOTES WEEK ENDING 7th JUNE 2020
First thing first, we hope all our members and their
families and friends are plotting a safe passage through these extreme times.
We hope all our friends in sport are keeping well and healthy. To everyone out
there please stay safe and to everyone who are recovering from the coronavirus
we wish you a speedy recovery back to full health.
The FAI Steering Group were meeting at the weekend to draw
up protocols for the return to training for adult amateur and underage football
under the new Government guidelines and will issue its recommendations as soon
as feasible. To facilitate this vital planning process and to support clubs
with time to put in place the necessary health and safety protocols, no
resumption of training under the new Government guidelines is permitted prior
to Monday June 15th. The FAI’s Steering Group will examine how these
new Government guidelines affect all affiliates and will issue directives as
soon as possible. We still have a long road to travel in the battle against
COVID-19 but sport has a huge role to play in Ireland’s recovery and the new
proposed guidelines will help get us back on the playing field as soon as it is
safe for all our members. The club will keep all its members updated as soon as
we have more information to supply.
Wicklow Rovers AFC would like to thank all those working on
the frontline for their dedication in the fight against COVID-19 and for their
contribution in getting us to a point where we can plan for live sport again
An update on our Last Man Standing competition, with the
news that the premier league is set to resume on the 17th of June we
will be restarting our competition on the weekend of the 19th/20th/21st
of June everything going well. As planned games in the premier league will be
staged on every day of the week, it will mean if you progress there will be a quick
turn around regards your selection for the next round. What this means is all
selections must be in prior to the first game of round 4, the first game in
round 4 will be staged 24 hours after the last game in round 3, if you progress
you might be requested to submit your next selection within hours of
progressing. On the text you receive to say you progressed there will be a
deadline time for your next selection. Prior to the suspension of our Last Man
Standing competition due to covid-19 we had reached round three and were left
with 49 players left standing. If you have forgotten your previous selections
in the competition you can view the Last Man Standing selections table on the
club website at www.wicklowrovers.com
or alternatively you can text me at 087-9108706. All remaining players will have been notified
on the resumption of our competition and will receive the fixtures for round
three on Sunday the 14th of June. We would like to wish all
remaining players the very best of luck in the pursuit of the Last Man Standing
title and the €500 prize.
The club are always on the look
out for new members on our executive committee. We are always in need of people
to help out, you can never have enough volunteers. Just don’t assume someone
else is going to step forward, the club always needs fresh blood in order to
help the club progress and prosper. Any little bit of assistance would be a big
help. With twenty four teams in the club if we got one representative from each
team to help out for one year we would then have a very healthy committee to
help the club prosper. The club promote soccer for
schoolboys/girls, youths and senior men and ladies in the community, our club
is growing all the time and the committee could do with any help that people
are willing to offer, any assistance with the help of running the club would be
very much appreciated.
